Hole 11
The longest hole at The Loon is number 11. Stretching out to nearly 600 yards for the back tees the hole heads directly into the prevailing wind. With bunkers everywhere the golfer must hit good shots to have a chance here. The normal tees are on the West side of Championship Drive and this helps a lot since it carves a good 60 yards off the hole. The bunker on the left does not normally come into play unless the wind is fierce. All the fairway bunkers were designed to allow the golfer to advance the ball so don't let them worry you to much. The green sits up in the air and is the most protected green at The Loon. To play the hole successfully you have to have a reasonable distance when you approach the green. A long shot into number 11 usually spells disaster. The green is large but full of undulations so the battle is not over when you arrive at the green. This is another one of the great holes at The Loon. "Hit your shots solid here, off center shots add too much distance to an all ready long hole."
